In Defense of Energy Healing

Yes, there are unscrupulous energy healers, just as there are charlatans and con artists in many professions.

But healing is a mind-body-spirit experience that revitalizes the body’s energy.

Two concepts that are fundamental to Chinese medicine are Qi (usually translated as “vital energy”) and yin and yang (the harmony of all the opposite elements and forces that make up existence). These two concepts form the “roots” of Chinese medicine, including acupuncture.

Furthermore, the gift to heal is a “Gift of the Spirit.” When God grants this gift, He also confers the authority to exercise it. God may bestow the gift of healing on whomsoever He chooses including men, women, children and people who are outside of the LDS Church. God sometimes even gives dogs, horses and other animals the power to help people heal from trauma and PTSD. He has also given the power of healing to medicinal plants. And there were some who died with fevers, which at some seasons of the year were very frequent in the land — but not so much so with fevers, because of the excellent qualities of the many plants and roots which God had prepared to remove the cause of diseases, to which men were subject by the nature of the climate — Alma 46:40

Why Was Abish Mentioned by Name? | Book of Mormon Central

Both Abish and Queen Lamoni had the power to heal in the Book of Mormon.

[29] And it came to pass that she (Abish) went and took the queen by the hand, that perhaps she might raise her from the ground; and as soon as she touched her hand she arose and stood upon her feet, and cried with a loud voice, saying: O blessed Jesus, who has saved me from an awful hell! O blessed God, have mercy on this people!

[30] And when she had said this, she clasped her hands, being filled with joy, speaking many words which were not understood; and when she had done this, she took the king, Lamoni, by the hand, and behold he arose and stood upon his feet.

Could Relief Society sisters be allowed to again give blessings by the “laying on of hands” as they were permitted in early Church history? Woman-to-woman blessings were especially common when the recipient was going into childbirth labor. Reference

Luke 9

[49] And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.
[50] And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.

There is a social phenomenon known as the Shirky Principle that is “Institutions will try to preserve the problem to which they are the solution.” Mysticism solves the problem by bringing us back into God’s Presence, but this negates the need for the institution and priests to mediate access to God. So consciously or not they try to steer clear of mysticism, preserving the very stumbling blocks which they claim to solve. As Rabbi Lawrence Kushner noted, “The minute mysticism becomes permissible, acceptable, possible, it’s an immediate threat to organized religious structures. Because what mysticism does is it gives everybody direct unmediated personal access to God.” https://gratefulness.org/reso…/dsr-mystical-core-religion/

I have personally benefited from receiving Christ-centered energy healing, acupuncture, hypnotherapy and a variety of other modalities. This is a work-in-progress. I am trying to heal from repetitive unrighteous dominion inflicted upon me by priesthood leaders, as well as by workplace managers.
